DAHLIAS - Nature's Masterpiece, One Petal at a Time

$500.00

$500 DEPOSIT. See below for total trip fees.

Dahlias are some of the most spectacular flowers in the world. Their beauty, variety, and color ranges are beyond exquisite. This workshop will provide endless options for creative flower photography.

Stand in huge fields filled with them. Get up close and personal for in-depth views of shapes, colors, and flowing petals.

Photographing dahlias is like seeing dozens of different flower species when in fact they are all dahlias. It digs deep at your creativity, and is just one more example of how varied and exciting Mother Nature can be.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TRIP:

  • We will have private entry to the fields before they open to the public, as well as late departure at the end of the day. So we will be photographing in the best light. Mid-day we will have leisurely lunches, time to edit images, and image critique sessions along with Lightroom and Photoshop tips.

  • In addition, we will spend part of a day visiting the famous Portland International Rose Test Garden with over 10,000 rose bushes and 650 varieties.

  • This inspirational and educational trip includes my signature pre-trip live and interactive Zoom meeting which covers suggested gear, camera techniques and settings, creative ideas, details on how to prepare and what to bring.

This trip will elevate your photography to a higher level, regardless of whether you are a longtime photographer or a novice.

  • There is also an OPTIONAL PRE-TRIP EXTENSION to spend a few days along the exciting and moody rocky OREGON COAST, only an hour-and-a-half drive from Portland. Dates for the extension are August 27 - 31, 2027. This will be a superb counterpoint to our exploration of flowers. We will be staying at Cannon Beach, one of Oregon’s most beautiful and charming beaches. Our hotel is right on the beach and puts us close to easy shooting of sunsets, tide pools, rocky beaches and so much more. It is a small town with great eateries, shops, and easy-going charm.
