A Creative Journey Back In Time

The Old West captures the imagination like nothing else. The Badlands appear suddenly and dramatically from the Great Plains where many westward-bound pioneers in the 1800’s got their first glimpse of the challenges they faced. Sweeping landscapes, rugged rock formations, wide open spaces, the raw wildness, the untamed beauty. There is also the potential for a wide variety of wildlife including bison, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, prairie dogs, a wide variety of birds, and more. We will explore all of that and more in this exciting trip to Badlands National Park in South Dakota.

On this creative journey you will learn the fine points of Landscapes and Light. Lighting is the key to all successful photography. We will work on expanding your knowledge, instilling greater inspiration, and unleashing your creativity.

WHEN: May 23 - 27, 2027, plus optional extension May 27 - 30

OPTIONAL TRIP EXTENSION: The extension will cover exciting and dramatic areas including the famous Black Hills with its dramatic rocky spires, and Custer State Park with more wildlife and great scenery.

FEE: $3995 for the main Badlands trip. Additional $1500 for the Optional Trip Extension. Your deposit of $500 reserves your space; balance of $3495 (plus $1500 if you opt for the extension) is due by February 20, 2027, and is payable by check.

Fee includes all entry fees, personalized instruction, all classroom instruction, image critiques, pre-workshop live online training session, both in-the-field and classroom training, one group dinner and one group breakfast. (NOT included are lodging, meals other than those mentioned above, airfare from and to your home, ground transportation, rental car, alcohol, trip insurance, and personal incidentals. Special hotel rates have been arranged and hotel information will be sent to you upon registration.)
